The deadline given by Akaal Takhat Sahib to vacate the Deras (Sects) ended today. The Dera is still not ready for the apology. The patience shown by Sikh bodies and political parties conveys a message of peace to the world that we are not extremists we have the patience to protest peacefully.
As it was doubted by Government, police forces and media nothing was happened. This is a message that tells that Sikhs can go on protesting peacefully. The impression media was conveying around the world is proven wrong by Sikhs protesters. There was not even a single reported incident of violence so far.
Early in the day Mr. Bant Singh, Father of Shaheed Bhai Kanwaljit Singh requested that shaheedi of his son must not be used for political interests. He is proud of his son who sacrificed his life for religious purpose.
Also the interview of Bhai Mohkam Singh aired on Zee news 26-May-2007 indicated that every Sikh has total faith in Akaal Takhat Sahib and is following the verdict that no violent act will be performed from their side.
As the day passed the tense and dense air started settling down. Sikhs have shown that they are not the way they were shown and reported to whole world. Sikhs have won a part of battle by proving that they are peace loving community, No matter how the media gives publicity to events.
Now, the need is to continue with this approach. This approach of adopting the patience will give its sweet results in near future. Some disturbed elements may try to sabotage the peace and harmony efforts in Punjab, So the need is not to give those elements any chance to fulfil their intentions.
This Peace must be kept forever.
